Amid factual numbers of attacks on Asians rising, yet another should happen to surface on the internet. Another situation, another incident.

Two customers, one filming, enter a Korean owned business. 3 Korean employees were working behind the counter of the Korean-owned business. Well, one customer appears to yell at the 3 employees behind the counter and forces her way behind the register...with a loud bang to the dividing door. Not to be outdone, the customer threatens to "whoop" the employee and pins him right against the counter. The employee fights back as anyone would and just like backup, another employee draws his pistol in a show of force and grabs the customer off of the pinned employee. Taking control, both employees now neutralize the unruly customer until they calm down and employees drag them back to the door where they forced their way behind the register. The video footage ends with the third employee approaching and holding some kind of folded strap as the second employee holsters his gun and the customer is stopped from doing any further actions. BEFORE GOING ANY FURTHER, PLEASE WATCH THE VIDEO HERE AND FOLLOW ALONG WITH THE AFOREMENTIONED DESCRIPTION OF THE INCIDENT.

*Both videos are the same, descriptions are different based on each respectable source.*

Innumerable comments portray strong disagreement through the posts of this incident. The arguments and conflicts seem to go on indefinitely through each batch of comments. So, let us break down what has been said and what is fact.

First, let us analyze the post description of @asianswithattitudes' post:

"A disrespectful customer in Dallas Texas tries to rob and assault Korean business owners but the OG Koreans turn the table one of them even pulls out a strap … 'POSTING FOR AWARENESS'" - @asianswithattitudes

If we take a step-by-step look at the video, we can see simply that the customer was being clearly disrespectful to the employees. The customer yells at the employees and she forces her way around the counter, sequentially assaulting them. In a way, almost like a flash of time, the incident turns from verbal to an unexpected and sudden physical encounter.

Now, the second part of this post states that the "OG Koreans turn the table [and] one of them even pulls out a strap." We can also see that it is clear in the video as the Koreans "turn the table" against the disorderly customer by neutralizing them in a way that the customer no longer tries to continue attacking. Finally, the post mentions that one "pulls out a strap", portrayed at the end of the video.

Second, we will analyze the post description of @PharaohJones3's post:

ALERT: A group of Asian men beat and pistol-whipped a Black woman in Dallas yesterday! Joe Biden should sign a law to protect Black people from ANTI-BLACK RACISM!!! - @PharaohJones3

Quite frankly, this post is slightly shorter, but only describes the fight scene and a call-to-action. So, we can break this down.

First of all, this post mentions the group of employees beating and pistol-whipping the disruptive customer, who acts insubordinately to the employees. Per the video, it is obvious that what was described took place in the order and mindset of self-defense and an aggravated attack by the customer, shown at the start of the video. Now, it is certainly and unmistakably true that the description of the defense was accurate, but yet the post fails to address the full video and only addresses the actions of the employees' defense.

Secondly, the post also mentions a call to action to President Joe Biden, calling for "a law to protect Black people from ANTI-BLACK RACISM." Although this statement may not be quickly disregarded by President Joe Biden, it is important to keep in mind that this incident does not justify, in any way, racism against the aggravated customer. The customer provided the first plainly clear sign of agitation against the employees of the store. This topic of call to action needs not to be intertwined with this incident of a customer-provoked defense. In conclusion, it is self-evident to say that @asianswithattitudes' post correctly notes each event of this incident, although not in full detail, the description gives an overview of the incident. @PharaohJones3's post was, importantly, only able to describe part of the incident. Despite being more in detail, @PharaohJones3's post is not able to accurately address the takeaways of the video and therefore cannot be a fully impartial argument of the incident.

Addressing the second part of @PharaohJones3's post, the aforementioned call to action about anti-black racism should not be affiliated with this incident as: 1) Said Twitter user was not able to present a fully impartial argument, invalidating the relevance of the evidence provided; and 2) the video has provided undeniable evidence that the customer showed the first signs of aggression towards the employees, and consequently, justifies the employees reason of self-defense. This means that aggression by the staff towards the customer sequentially following the initial assault from the customer should not be deemed as racial - this was SELF-DEFENSE.
