Wednesday, June 16, 2021. A rising tenseness fills the city of San Francisco, as yet another attack, one of the city's many, takes place. Anh "Peng" Taylor stabbed in broad daylight, just 15 minutes after 10AM. No hidden cover, unprovoked, out in the open.

Asking herself, Peng questions "why would something like this happen to me?" Sweet and doesn't bother anyone, according to her neighbors. "She just goes for little walks with her cane," noted friend and neighbor Miranda Benvenuti. An incident not to be forgotten by Peng and sadly as worth to be remembered as her husband's passing 2 years ago.

The suspect, Daniel Cauich, well known to the SFPD and free-roaming repeat offender of murder and burglary. Released on an ankle monitor, arrested 5 times in 2020 alone on burglary charges! Sentenced to 1 year for a March 2021 burglary charge, serving 100 days and released on the same conditions. Truly a petrifying attack, as Peng is stabbed by Cauich straight into the torso, straight into the wrist, hit on the head, and left for dead.

Living in SF since the early 70's, Peng, a chef, owned a restaurant in Laos before meeting her husband and marrying in Bangkok. A person of Chinese Vietnamese descent, she escaped Vietnam amid the war-torn country for Laos.

Now, after her tedious journey, destined to migrate to Hawaii and finally to San Francisco, she searched for the American Dream. She lived through her 45 years in San Francisco's Tenderloin neighborhood, notoriously plagued with crime. Nevertheless, she took her daily peaceful walks and waved to the neighbors...until the unprovoked attack of June 16, 2021.

One attack of the city's many, the state's many, and the country's many attacks on Asian Americans, spawning ruthlessness and horrifying outcomes. Wish for her an uneventful and peaceful recovery, so she will be able to return home from her mentally and physically painful saga unharmed.
